How to Choose your Wedding Photographer
Your wedding photographs are more than just images—they’re timeless heirlooms, capturing the magic of your most cherished day. Your wedding deserves to be captured beautifully, and you deserve a photographer who understands your vision. Choosing the right photographer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when you’re planning your wedding, so here are my top tips for finding the perfect fit:
✨ Connection is key – Your photographer will be by your side all day, so it’s essential that you feel comfortable with them, that you like them and that you feel they will get on with all your loved ones. Beyond beautiful photos, you deserve someone whose presence feels reassuring and effortless, someone who listens to you and wants to make sure you have the perfect day. A consultation, whether in person or via video call, will help you know if they’re the right match. Trust your intuition!
📸 Love their style – Every photographer has a unique style and approach. Some focus on dramatic, editorial-style portraits, while others (like me) specialise in natural, emotive storytelling. I believe in capturing authentic, unscripted moments with a refined, editorial touch—those fleeting glances, quiet embraces, and joyful interactions that might otherwise go unseen—all without pulling you away from your guests for hours.
Everyone has a different vision of their day and different photos that they definitely want or don’t want. A lot of people don’t feel comfortable having their photos taken, it’s not something any of us are really used to, in which case, a more candid, relaxed approach to documenting your day may well be your preference (it is for all my couples!)

Allocating a realistic budget ensures you receive the quality, expertise, and experience needed to create stunning photos that stand the test of time. a skilled photographer understands how to work with natural light, anticipate fleeting moments, compose beautifully balanced shots, and seamlessly guide you and your guests with warmth and professionalism—so you feel effortless in front of the camera while truly enjoying your day. And remember, if a price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Exceptional photography is an investment, not just in stunning images, but in the peace of mind that your most precious memories are being captured flawlessly.
🤍 More than just photos – The right photographer will do more than document the day; they’ll enhance your experience. From the morning getting ready moments to the final dance, they should feel like a reassuring presence, blending seamlessly into the day while bringing a calm, positive energy. You’ll spend a lot of time with them, so they should be someone you genuinely enjoy being around, someone who makes you feel at ease, brings a sense of fun, and knows how to capture moments naturally without making anything or anyone feel forced. And when things don’t go perfectly to plan? They’re the ones who adapt effortlessly, pin up your dress, fix a boutonnière, or help grandma find a chair, all while ensuring every special moment is beautifully captured.
📅 Book early – Luxury photographers book up quickly, often a year or more in advance. Once your date and venue are set, securing your photographer should be a top priority to avoid disappointment. Whilst I do still have a few slots left for 2025, my diary for 2026 is filling up fast.
