Wedding Photography at Hollins House Hotel
As a recommended wedding photographer for Hollin House, I know all the best spots for beautiful photos, and it really is a gift for beautiful backdrops.
The combination of Victorian Gothic architecture, the grand carved staircase, original fireplaces, and the beautiful gardens with the rolling countryside and the Peak District on the horizon means there is no shortage of beautiful places for timeless, stunning wedding photos.
The light and spacious rooms for morning prep offer space for you and all your bridal party to get ready while having beautiful photos taken, and as you descend the stairs to walk to your ceremony, the sweeping staircase is a feature of grandeur, fitting for timeless, elegant photos of you in your beautiful bridal gown.
Outside, with acres of beautiful gardens which change through the seasons, and the rolling hills of the peak district in the background, you are guaranteed to have wedding photos to cherish. While you have your group and couples photos, The Orangery Suite offers its own outdoor patio area, which is perfect for drinks receptions and lots of natural candid shots of guests mingling and having fun.
With the Peak District in the background, the village of Bollington and the Cheshire countryside all within minutes, there are also endless options for adventurous couples who want couples portrait photos beyond the venue’s grounds as well.

Choosing the right photographer for your Hollins House wedding
As a wedding photographer who specialises in natural, relaxed, candid wedding photos, Hollins House offers so many wonderful spaces for beautiful photos, and as a recommended wedding photographer for them, I know all the best places for each time of day.
Choosing a photographer who is familiar with your venue is always a helpful bonus as it means they already know the venue well and already know where to take you for group and couples portraits. For somewhere like Hollins House, with the rolling countryside, it’s especially useful for golden hour, as I know the best places to capture that beautiful golden light, which is usually up the driveway given the vast open countryside in the background; perfect for catching the last golden light, with nothing blocking the sunset across the open countryside.
For portraits during morning prep, the beautiful window in the bridal prep room is always a great spot, and as you descend the stairs to your ceremony, a photo of you on the historic grand staircase is always a must, although the stairs can be quite dark being in the middle of the building. The light pouring through the ceremony roof windows makes for gorgeous ceremony photos and confetti at the front of the building is a must with the gothic architecture in the background. If you’re getting married during spring and summer, it’s worth considering a 12 or 1pm ceremony, as by 2pm the sun can be shining directly into the ceremony room, making it rather warm for you as your say your vows!
There’s multiple places for lovely group photos but my favourite spot is just up the drive where there’s a lovely little gazebo area; this is also a great place for golden hour photos with the rolling countryside in the background. We don’t have to go far for multiple places for lovely couples photos; there’s the gardens, the driveway, the gazebo and the many acres of landscape to choose from. The gardens and stairs leading down to them are also a fab spot for group photos, as well as morning groomsmen photos.
If the weather isn’t as great as we’d hoped, The Orangerie is a gorgeous alternative with its huge glass roof, allowing for natural light even on a wet day. This is also likely to be where you have your wedding breakfast though, so I would always make sure I speak to staff to allow for a window for your group photos before they start setting up tables for your wedding breakfast. If time doesn’t allow for this, the staircase or the landing over are both beautiful spots for group photos, with a bit of flash to assist with light.
Throughout the day I work quietly and unobtrusively, documenting everything from the big moments to the little interactions and emotions that make your wedding uniquely yours. I also offer drone photos as standard in most packages, which is fabulous at a location like Hollins House to capture beautiful venue photos with the Peak District in the background. A drone photo is always a quick and effective way to capture a full group photo too, after confetti is thrown, before your drinks reception gets into full swing and I’m busy documenting your day and all the lovely moments you’ll want to cherish.
Having photographed weddings at Hollins House, I know how to make the most of every part of the venue. Whether it’s a bright summer afternoon, an autumn sunset over the countryside, or a rainy winter day making use of the beautiful interiors, there are always wonderful opportunities for natural, timeless photographs.
